Dear ETK Family,
To all of you who have been members of the ETK family, welcome back to the school year! And for those of you who are new to the fold, welcome to our ETK newsletter that brings an occasional look at how we can best take care of ourselves in our hurried, harried, and hopeful lives. Our first orientation meeting will be held on Sunday, September 13th, at 12:30 p.m. at SMU. Kathye has sent you detailed information as to how to find our gathering place, Michael is busy organizing discussion plans for our working lunch, and I will present a short program that will allow all of us to examine our growth and development as it relates to the college experience and life in general. Come prepared to learn.
Meanwhile, there is sadness to bear. Most of you have heard that Carrieanne Clinton, one of our ETK family, died peacefully in her sleep last Thursday morning. Michael shared the following message about her pass-ing, “I will always remember Carrieanne’s bright smile, her outgoing personality, her “can-do” spirt and her tremendous courage and perseverance despite numerous medical problems and complications. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Clinton family.” Deb Webb, Erin’s sister and a member of our selection committee, added, “Carrieanne will al-ways be remembered as a woman of inspiration, strength and kindness.” Those of us who were fortunate enough to know Carrieanne understand their thoughts completely. In the days to come as we remember the specialness of her life, there will be other opportunities to reflect with each other and her family about the meaningfulness she left behind.
